Pandan Green by Parchmen and Co.

One thing about working for a tea startup is that I get exposed to a lot of different teas, some of which I end up buying. I say some, but I suspect that as I continue working, that word will change to “many”.

Pandan Green is one of the first teas that I heard about and bought to try. It’s a blend of pandan and green tea by Parchmen (I previously went for their Tea Tasting Course, which was really fun). What makes this tea unique is that the pandan “is added as part of the process of making the tea leaves” rather than being added in after the tea has been made.

The dry leaves smell like pandan leaves, which made me wonder just how sweet this tea was going to be. However, the tea liquor smelled more like a normal green tea, with just a hint of the sweetness of pandan.

As for taste, this is a delicious tea. It has the clean, vegetal taste of green tea, balanced with the sweetness of the pandan. Neither element overwhelms the other, instead, both ingredients come together perfectly. It was very good and I am so glad that I have the chance to try this.

As an aside, Parchmen is one of the merchants at the Singapore Tea Festival, which will be starting tomorrow (till the 23rd of September)! If you’re in Singapore, definitely come down to take a look and try all the teas that will be available.

The tea itself is available from teapasar from 10g (tasting sample) quantities onwards. I would suggest getting the 50g packet right away, but if you just want to try the tea, 10g will be enough for a few cups.

What do you think?
