My mom and sis went to Vietnam recently, and they came back with some tea for me! I must admit, when I first saw the words “cacao tea”, I was a little afraid … I’ve tried cacao tea before, and I wasn’t too fond of the taste. But, the cacao tea I tried was made of pure cacao beans, while this is a mix of tea leaf and cacao beans, so I decided to give it a go.
Since the tea was loose leaf, I emptied it out to take a look – it’s got a nice mix of beans and tea leaves (looks like green tea?) and it smelled like chocolate. So far so good.
Taste: After brewing, the tea was a light green colour (guess it was green tea after all) and still smelled of chocolate. It was much sweeter than the other cacao tea I tried, but that’s probably because stevia is one of the ingredients. I couldn’t really taste the green tea, just a sweet taste and then something vaguely but not quite like chocolate. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either and I ended up not finishing my cup of tea.
I guess cacao tea really isn’t my thing after all.
