2019 Tea Sipdown

Inspired by Northern Teaist, I spent much of the past month trying to finish as many teas as possible. I dug through cupboards and rifled through the tea drawer at work, stumbled across new teas, and ended up managing to finish X teas.

Here are my final goodbyes:

The Digester (Bird & Blend Tea Co.)

Goodbye but not forever. This is the first tea from this year’s UK haul to be finished, mostly because I couldn’t stop reaching for it. I didn’t really expect flavoured puer to work but this is so wonderfully calming for my stomach. I’m definitely going to have to stock up next time I’m in the UK!

Chenpi Puer (Infusion de Vie)

Finally finished the box of puers that I was given last year, before I started my previous job, making this a tea that outlasted my previous job in tea. I guess it’s fitting that I brewed this tea during my new job, when I wanted something that looked like coffee but wasn’t (I’ll convert my office to tea eventually). This lasted the whole day, so clearly some partings take time to complete.

Duck Shit Dancong (Group Buy)

My first duck shit dancong, so delightfully fragrant that it won’t be my last. This brewed up a few golden cups for a perfect sendoff.

Liu An Gua Pian (Group Buy)

Another great tea, although it took some time before I really appreciated it because I’m just so used to Japanese green teas! This was a tea that I liked the more I drank it, although I think I’ll be quite happy with my current stash of green teas for now!

Milanxiang (Group Buy)

I loved this dancong – so sweet and delicious! It’s always been a dependable cup of tea for when I’m at work.

Huoshan Huangya (Group Buy)

When I finished this, I realised that I finished all the group buy teas and that my tea cupboard at work was relatively empty. Time to bring more teas over(:

I’m not too sure if I’ll be getting this again, but I enjoyed getting to know this yellow tea.

Book Lover (Carel Capek)

Probably one of the teas that I finished the quickest, this was from my trip to Japan in September! The tin is cute, the flavours are nice, this is just a win all around. It was finished so fast because not only was I drinking it, I was also bringing it out whenever we had guests – and they all loved it!

Yorkshire Tea Biscuit Blend

This is a blend that isn’t available in Singapore, so I ordered it off Amazon UK and… five boxes arrived at my sister’s doorstep. As you can imagine, it took quite some time to finish it. But luckily for me, my family really liked this tea (it goes well with milk and sugar) so they’ve been constantly drinking it while I busy myself with other teas. I opened it on boxing day, only to find one teabag remaining so I happily finished that.

I’m pretty proud of myself for finishing eight teas, especially since I was also drinking the tea advent every day! I definitely drank too much tea this month, which has resulted in a constantly bloated stomach (even though I drink tea only when I’ve had something to eat). I’ll have to slow down my pace in the new year but with a few new teas to try, it’s gonna be hard.

What do you think?
