Daily Reading: 31st May//May Rereading Roundup + June Plans

We’re at the end of the month! To be honest, when it comes to reading, this month moved pretty quickly. I definitely did not read as much as I wanted or planned. But I had a lot of fun rediscovering old favourites that I’ve decided that I want to do this regularly – I’ll probably want to read Christmas-themed books in December, so perhaps I’ll do a Rereading-themed month in November if NaNoWriMo isn’t too much to handle.

Would anyone else be interested in trying it then? It would not be great for your TBR list, but rereading will let you discover new aspects to books you thought you already knew.

As for June plans, the libraries in Singapore will be closed in Phase One of our Circuit Breaker exit (to be honest, Phase One will resemble the Circuit Breaker in terms of ordinary life for me) so I anticipate reading a lot of ebooks. I’ve actually got about 4 checked out right now – I placed a few holds thinking that they’d take some time to come in but they’re all here already. So that will be fun.

Today’s reads

I went back to Enid Blyton for More Adventures at Willow Farm! I really need to find a copy of the first adventure because I remember really enjoying it. It’s also on this copy that I realised that a chunk of the pages are repeated! It’s quite amazing that I did not realise this before because I’ve definitely read this a couple of times.

Then I decided to keep things light and read Never Push When It Says Pull and Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade, both by Guy Browning. They’re funny “guides to life” that never fail to lift my mood.

Today’s tea

Well, actually this was yesterday’s tea but I forgot. And I did not do this enough times so here it is: Lupicia’s Matcha Black Soybean Rice Tea. It had kinako notes before brewing, but that disappeared after. The tea itself was very much a genmaicha – lovely sweet and roasted notes with just a tiny hint of matcha peeking through.

What do you think?
