I have finally opened this!! It took much longer than expected because I want it to last forever (also, I was trying to finish a few other teas). But it’s open, I’ve tasted it, and I’ve got a tea review for you in not one, but two formats!
(Also, you can tell that I’ve got a lot of caffeine in me right now)
Description of the Tea:
濃厚なキャラメルと甘いチョコレートの香りが広がる紅茶は、ミルクティーにもおすすめです。可憐な花びらは独り立ちしようとするキキをイメージしています。
My translation:
Combining deep caramel and the sweet scent of chocolate, this black tea is also great as a milk tea. Cute flowers create an image of Kiki trying to make her own way.
Youtube Review
If videos are not your thing (I hear you! I write mostly blogposts and I read more blogposts than I watch youtube vlogs/reviews!), here are my written thoughts on the tea:
First Impressions
I must admit, I expected this tea to be come loose, not in teabags. But since the leaves here aren’t whole leaves, I don’t think flavour is going to be too compromised by this being in teabags anyway. The scent is mostly of chocolate (the kind of chocolate you get in teas, if you know what I mean). I’m not getting any flowers, even though I can see tiny pink flower petals (bits of flower petals?) mixed in with the leaves.
Tasting Notes
The tea is sweet but not too sweet. I’m getting more chocolate than caramel notes, but nothing that suggests flowers. Chocolate is always a bit tricky for me because chocolate flavouring tends to be quite obviously artificial, but this is pretty pleasant. It definitely helps that the flavours aren’t that strong.
I also tried this as a milk tea after I filmed my video review, and I must say, this is pretty good with milk too! The milk goes well with the chocolate notes and helps to make it feel less artificial. I didn’t add sugar because the tea was sweet enough for me – it’s very much a dessert tea as it is!
Conclusions
This cookie tea from Lupicia is perfect for an afternoon tea party. If you like chocolate with your teas, this is something that you’d want to check out. And of course, if you’re a fan of Kiki’s Delivery Service, the tin alone should be enough to convince you to try this. This tea is as sweet as Kiki herself.
Hi Eustacia—Where do you post your video reviews?
Hi Warren, it’s currently on youtube. I’ve embedded it into this post – can you see it?
Hello! I’ve just checked out the live action of Kiki’s Delivery Service (I prefer the animated one) and it’s so lovely to know that there’s a Kiki tea too 🙂 I think your video review was calming and was a nice addition to this post too! Subscribed 🙂
Thank you!! I didn’t know there was a live action of Kiki! Not sure if I feel like watching it though 😂
It’s a little different…but not completely terrible I guess! XD
