So after reading Blue Monday and being in two minds about how I feel about the ending, I decided to read the next book in the series, Tuesday’s Gone, and decided that… yeah I’m liking these books so far!
Tuesday’s Gone starts off with a very strange case: a woman with mental illness is found serving tea to a naked corpse in her house. Unfortunately, the woman can’t give the police any helpful information, and that is when Karlsson calls Frieda in. For some reason, Frieda can’t let go of the case and she continues digging, discovering not just the victim’s identity, but also the secrets that he hid.
Obviously, I found the mystery to be really interesting because it started with a dead man being served tea. And when you find out that the man is a conman… well things just get more and more complicated. This was a case with a lot of twists and turns and I really enjoyed reading how things played out. I also liked how the events from the first book continue here, and now I see that the first book was meant to set things up so the whole series is tied together by something. I’m not sure what, but it feels like there’s a bigger arc that’s going to happen, a little like what Louise Penny did with the Inspector Gamache books (and I loved those books so this bodes well for me).
We also get to find out more about Frieda here, and I’m really liking it. It looks like there are layers to her that we’ve not seen and I want to know why she gets so invested in these cases when she could walk away. I like that most of the main characters (Freida and her friends and the police officers) stay the same because that makes it easier for me to keep track of everyone.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book! The mystery is gripping, I like the characters so far, and I’m interested in seeing how things play out.
You’re really making me want to continue with the books too. I’d like to learn more about Frieda too.
Haha well, I’m planning to read book 3! I’ll let you know if it’s worth continuing!
That concept sounds really interesting and whilst I’ve not been into mystery or thriller books lately… I’m tempted!
I’m liking it so far!! Would def recommend if you ever are in the mood for a mystery/thriller series haha
