I’m currently on vacation but I needed to get back here to bring you this post before it’s too late – a quick review of the Spiced Christmas Tea by Marks & Spencer. I’m normally not a fan of spiced teas, but I’ll make an exception for Christmas.
This tea is pretty straightforward – it’s meant for Christmas and so, I’ll just be reviewing it straight and milk, the only two ways you can drink it.
Straight, the tea is surprisingly light. The spicy note reminds me of a blend of cinnamon and ginger, although I think the ginger note is slightly stronger. I’m also getting an orange note that grows stronger as the tea cools down. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this tea (it’s really warming for me), though people who don’t like spiced tea, like my mum, did not appreciate it. By the way, I realised that if you steep it for too long, the balance is broken because ginger note disappears and the tea is overwhelmed with cinnamon and orange notes.
Since the box said “add milk if desired”, I decided to try adding milk. The tea liquor looks really light with milk and the milk dampens down the orange note so that all I taste is milk and cinnamon. It’s honestly not my favourite way to drink the tea – I’d take it straight any day over the milk version.
Overall, this is a fun, festive tea. I’m not sure if I can finish the whole box myself, but I can definitely see myself also using this tea to make tea-infused sohrtbread and maybe tea-infused chocolate cake!
I like that this has the Orange taste in there alongside the spices!
Me too! The slight fruitiness is lovely!
