I’m making good progress on the Owen Archer series! I’m really enjoying it, and I don’t really feel the urge to binge it so I can actually pace it out. I mean, I enjoy most of the books I read but it’s a treat to know you have a book you’re certain to enjoy coming… Read More Book Review: The King’s Bishop by Candace Robb
I always love a good historical mystery and with such a fun name, how could I not request a review copy of A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons? There are, sadly, not as many parties as you would expect in this book. But there is a lot of poison. When Saffron Everleigh attends a… Read More Book Review: A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari
I said that I wanted to read the next Owen Archer book fairly soon, so I did! I have to say, though, The Nun’s Tale is the darkest book from Robb that I read so far! Owen Archer should be at home with his wife, Lucie, as they prepare for the arrival of their first… Read More Book Review: The Nun’s Tale by Candace Robb
I wanted more historical mysteries after reading The Lady Chapel, so I checked out Death at St. Vedast, a book that has been on my TBR list for a while! Death at St. Vedast starts with a suspicious suicide – a woman, who seems impervious to the cold, throws herself from a great height. Bianca,… Read More Book Review: Death at St. Vedast by Mary Lawrence
It has been almost a year since I last read something by Candace Robb, which is a pity because this book reminded me how much I enjoy her historical mysteries. I used to think that her Kate Clifford books are my favourite, but this second book in the Owen Archer series makes me want to… Read More Book Review: The Lady Chapel by Candace Robb
I’m fairly terrible at following series, so I didn’t realise that there was another Below Stairs mystery out until Wendy talked about it on her blog, Musings of a Bookish Kitty and I decided to borrow the book before I forgot about it again. Well, on the train back from Nice, I did a bit… Read More Book Review: Death at the Crystal Palace by Jennifer Ashley
I recently realised that I had not read the latest Below Stairs series (which, in my head I call the “Kat Holloway” mysteries because it’s easier to remember the protagonist’s name), so when I found a copy of Murder in the East End in the library, I promptly snatched it up! Murder in the East… Read More Book Review: Murder in the East End by Jennifer Ashley
I’d forgotten about Candace Robb for a bit, but after I read The Cross Legged Knight, I just had to read another one of the Kate Clifford Mysteries, another series by her. A Murdered Peace is the third book in the Kate Clifford series and it deals heavily with characters from the first two books.… Read More Book Review: A Murdered Peace by Candace Robb
I realised that I haven’t read any mysteries by Candace Robb recently, so I bought one of the Owen Archer mysteries! I’ve previously read The Apothecary Rose, which is the first book in the series, so while The Cross-Legged Knight was a bit of a leap forward (it’s the 8th book in the series), I… Read More Book Review: The Cross-Legged Knight by Candace Robb
I’m finally reading one of the A Year with Christie 2020 books! The July pick is Death Comes as the End, Christie’s only historical mystery, set in Ancient Egypt. After the death of her husband, Renisenb and her daughter go back to her father’s house. It’s been eight years, but Renisenb finds that little has… Read More Book Review: Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie
