EusTea, Taco's Kitchen Mishaps

Trying Buckingham Palace Teas

I wish the title of the post was a prelude to me saying “and by the way, I got to go to Buckingham Palace and have tea with the Queen” but nope, that didn’t happen. Instead, I was trying the tea that Ethel gave me. It was from Buckingham, though, so I was pretty excited about it! Especially since we didn’t get to go to Buckingham Palace when we visited England.

According to the back of the teabags, this tea was “blended and packed in the UK for Royal Collection Trust, Buckingham Palace, London, England.” Unfortunately, they didn’t mention where it was grown – though the fact that England has only one tea plantation (in Cornwall) makes it unlikely that this is 100% British tea.

I was initially a bit hesitant about this Earl Grey because the smell of Bergamot was really strong. But the smell mellowed out after I brewed the tea and it was surprisingly balanced when I tasted it. The bergamot lingers pleasantly in the mouth after drinking and I was surprised by how much I liked this.

That said, the White Tea with Rose and Pomegranate was definitely my favourite of the two. This white tea is a little floral, a little fruity, and really delicious to drink. I passed this around the office and everyone loved it, so this might be a good tea to buy back as a present (why am I talking as if I’m going to the Buckingham Palace gift shop soon?)

Speaking of British tea, I made some scones for cream tea yesterday:

With a National Trust recipe, of course. I even hunted down Devon clotted cream to go with them. Turns out that finding affordable clotted cream is surprisingly difficult in Singapore (then again, lots of tea places serve scones with butter so why am I surprised?)

What do you think?
