Teahouse Visit: Antea Social

I was planning to stay at home today but the jetlag kicked in and I woke up pretty early. Since Instagram told me that it was Antea Social’s new teahouse’s official opening today, I decided to make use of this sudden burst of energy to visit the teahouse.

While I don’t think I’ve mentioned Antea Social on this blog before, I’ve actually been buying their teas as gifts for people! They specialise in flavoured oolongs and work directly with Taiwanese farmers and tea masters to bring teas into Singapore. Because of the way they bake the flavour into the oolong, their teas can last several steeps (which is something pretty unusual for flavoured teas, at least in my experience). So basically, their teas are delicious, easy to brew, and are an easy way to introduce people to oolongs.

I’m loving the interior of the place! It’s very much on-brand with the Antea Social colours reflected everywhere.

They’ll also be selling Antea Social’s teas here, so if you can buy the teas if you like them (or if you need a gift).

I really like how the lanterns are repeated in the ceiling. Apparently, they’re custom-made!

With regards to the menu, most, if not all, of Antea Social’s teas are served here. There are also four new tea-based drinks, as well as kombucha made using their teas and the option to blend your own tea. They’ll also be expanding their menu as time goes by, so I’m pretty excited to see what else they’ll be serving.

Sadly, I can’t try everything on the menu, so I settled for trying Autumn and a slice of cake.

According to the description, Autumn is a blend of rooibos, lemonade, and lemon verbana-lavender infused syrup. For me, the flavours balanced very well – the taste of the rooibos came through pretty clearly. The lemonade and lemon verbena added tart and fruity notes, while the lavender was a bit more subtle but still distinct. Everything worked together and no one ingredient overwhelmed the others.

The cakes here are from local bakeries. The one I had (Honey Earl Grey Hazelnut) was pretty good, although I would have liked the Earl Grey taste to be stronger. But I came here more for the tea which more than delivered.

Tea lovers – especially those who enjoy oolongs – looking for a quiet place to enjoy delicious teas will enjoy this tea house. There is a good mix of flavoured and straight teas, which means this will appeal to tea novices and enthusiasts alike.
