A Roundup of Afternoon Teas in Singapore

Since I have a few Afternoon Tea reviews in this blog, I thought I’d make a master post of ALL the afternoon teas that I’ve tried in Singapore so that it’s easier to compare them/I can send this post to people who ask me which I preferred.

This post will be periodically updated, so please keep in mind the date I had these teas – some of the information might be outdated.

Without any further ado, let’s get into it.

Marks & Spencer Afternoon Tea (Cheapest)

Date I had it: Multiple Times (2018, 2019)

Cost: $30++ for two people

Tea Brand: Marks & Spencer

Summary: Everything here is from the M&S food hall, so if you like the food there, odds are you will like the food here. If you’re in Orchard and you want a 3-tiered afternoon tea that’s not going to break your wallet (especially since D’Good Cafe at Takashimaya closed down), I think this is the only option.

Foster’s Devonshire Cream Tea

Date I had it: May 2018, April 2021

Cost: $11.50 per person

Tea Brand: Dilmah

Summary: The scones here were amazing! And that’s pretty much the only thing that made an impression; the rest of the food was decent but not outstanding. This is the only cream tea set (instead of the three-tiered version) that I’ve seen in Singapore so far, so if you just want some scones and light bites, this is the place to go.

Skai (Swissotel, The Stamford’s) Afternoon Tea

Skai Afternoon Tea

Date I had it: September 2020, March 2021

Cost: $65++ (High Tea) or $78++ (Premium High Tea)

Tea Brand: TWG (limited to 2 pots per person)

Summary: This is pricey but I think it’s worth it. The views are amazing (you are on the 70th story after all) and all the food was excellent. The range of tea is a bit limited, but I suppose no one is coming here purely for the tea.

The Courtyard @ Fullerton’s Afternoon Tea

Date I had it: September 2018

Cost: $56++ (for the weekend)

Tea Brand: TWG

Summary: The scones were a bit off for me but apart from that, I enjoyed all the food at this afternoon tea! The first round of food comes in a 3-tiered serving, but after that, we could go back and help ourselves to as many helpings as we wanted (not sure if this has changed due to COVID-19 measures). Tea was the same – I didn’t hear about any limit on how many pots we could order. The service here is great too; I didn’t say anything about it being my birthday when I made a reservation, but when my friends mentioned it to the staff, they managed to get a card and a small cake together as a surprise.

Wonderland Afternoon Tea @ Renku (Marina Bay Sands)

Renku Afternoon Tea Tray

Date I had it: September 2019

Cost: $48++

Tea Brand: Ette Tea

Summary: I think this is one of the places that takes their tea a bit more seriously – the tea menu is extensive and if you want, their tea masters can make a custom blend for you! Food-wise, I really liked their sweets and the savouries were pretty good as well. Also worth noting: the tea and food were free-flow when I went.

Premium Magical Afternoon Tea @ Anti:Dote

Famous anti:dote drawer

Date I had it: December 2020

Cost: $58++ and an additional $10 for amuse boche (cost is for one person), total $68++

Tea Brand: TWG

Summary: The presentation for this is nice, but unfortunately the food is not as impressive. There was one savoury item that really impressed me, and the amuse boche items were good, but that’s about it. Oh, and they had proper clotted cream for the scones, which is a plus. Personally, I don’t think it’s that worth it for the price that I paid, but I know other people who enjoyed the tea set here, so your mileage may vary.

[Permanently Closed] D’Good Cafe

Date I had it: March 2018

Cost: $48++ for two people

Tea Brand: D’Good Cafe

Summary: This is another afternoon tea set that’s pretty value-for-money! Unfortunately, the set I had is no longer available, since the Takashimaya shop closed, but my mum went for the Afternoon Tea set at their Vivocity branch and absolutely loved it.

    1. I think it’s because most afternoon tea places are hotels, so M&S ended up being the cheapest by virtue of not being run by a hotel (also, all food is from the foodhall so I think that kept costs down)

What do you think?
