I have not mentioned this before but I’m pretty sure the Honeycomb Cookie Doh is one of the reasons why I bought the Autumn sampler set!! Because I loooove cookies!
The product page is no more, which means I can’t really introduce the blend, so let’s jump straight into the review
First Impressions
The dry leave are just a mix of things. Looking at the ingredient list, I see rooibos, black tea, cocoa nibs, puffed quinoa, etc. That’s a lot of things going on, but I’m basically getting a sweet caramel scent from this tea. At this stage, I still love the tea concept but I’m not enthusiastic about how many ingredients there are going on (also, rooibos and black tea is an odd combination, but I’ve been proven wrong about The Digester so I’ll withhold judgement).
Tasting Impressions
When drunk straight, the tea smells and tastes like a chocolate-flavoured tea. I didn’t get any cookie notes from this, and sadly, the sweetness had an artificial tinge to it. But the packet also says that it goes with milk, and I know some teas aren’t really meant to be drunk straight, so let’s try that next.
The tea and milk version is definitely better. The black tea notes are clearer and I find that the milk helps with the artificial sweetness. I’m not getting honeycomb cookie dough, but I’m definitely enjoying it a lot more like this.
It’s probably not a surprise to you, but I was surprised to see that the spent leaves looked basically like black tea rather than the huge mix of things that I saw in the dry leaves.
Conclusion
I have to say, this was a bit disappointing. I expected to get the impression of cookies, especially after Tea & Toast blend which really did remind me of toast with jam when I drank it with milk, but did not get that at all. I’m writing this review as I drink this tea with milk for the second time, and while I’m warming up to the tea, I don’t really see myself re-buying this if it comes back in stock.
this one sounds like a real disappointment, and now I want chocolate coated honeycomb!!!
I want a crunchy bar! hahaha
