Hi friends!

I’m super excited to share with you a new project! I’ve been part of the hanfugirls group for a while (you may remember the posts in my World of Genji series) and we’ve recently decided to write a book, so of course I had to share about it here!

The title of the book is tentatively 我们women, which is a pun because 我们 is romanised as “wo men” and the book is all about various inspiring women throughout Chinese history. I will be contributing a few chapters, including two on the samsui women and majie in Singapore. Other women that we intend to profile include:

• Feng Liao – a handmaiden to Princess Jieyou who was also a diplomat
• Nüwa – the mythical creator of the world (yes, we are exploring a literal legend as well!)
• Liang Hongyu – a legendary fighter and general

We are planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign later this year (mostly because we are making all the visuals ourselves and because we want to make hard copies available) so if you’re at all interested in this book, please sign up for the mailing list at this page.
