The book blogging community is probably my favourite online community, mostly because I don’t have to worry about algorithms hiding posts from me. This year, Pages Unbound is hosting a Support Book Bloggers challenge and I could not resist participating in this month’s challenge because I find so many great books from book bloggers!
Without further ado, here are five books that I found from book blogs!
My Lady Jane: Found from The Orangutan Librarian
Dear My Lady Jane,
I found you when The Orangutan Librarian wrote a love letter to you. Thankfully, books can be loved by many people because I quickly fell in love with you too! How can any reader resist your wit and charm? You showed me how interesting the story of Lady Jane Grey could be – if magic was involved.

Tristan Strong Punches A Hole in the Skye: Found from ZeeZee with Books
Not all reviews need to be five stars for me to pick it up. Zeezee rated Tristan Strong as a three star story, but the fact that it’s based on African-American mythology made me interested! The book felt a bit long to her, but I knew that I was okay with long books so I picked this up and it was a great read for me!
As a bit of a side note, I think this is one reason why no one needs to worry about not rating a book 5 stars. Every reader has her/his own preference so there’s no need to hide your true feelings when writing a review. And anyway, just sharing about a book gets the word out and helps the right reader find it!
House of Salt and Sorrows: Found from The Geeky Jock
I think I’ve found quite a few books from Em @ The Geeky Jock (including a webtoon called Lore Olympus which you should also check out) but the latest book that I read after reading her review was House of Salt and Sorrows! I love fairytale retellings and basically anything inspired by fairytales, and this dark, watery retelling of The Twelve Princesses was irresistable.
The Letter for the King: Found from Pages Unbound
As you can probably tell, fantasy is one of my favourite genres (the other has to be mystery/thriller). So when Krysta talked about a YA fantasy that is more of a classic fantasy than a modern YA fantasy, I was immediately intrigued. Obviously, I really enjoyed this or it would not make this list!
As a side note, I really enjoy all the discussion posts from Krysta and Briana over at Pages Unbound! They also have monthly roundup posts that feature other book blogs, so this is a blog you have to follow if you’re trying to expand your bookish community.
A Social History of Tea: Found from Tea For Me Please
Not all books are found from book blogs! As you know, I am a huge fan of tea, which means I also follow tea blogs. I found A Social History of Tea when Nicole over at Tea For Me Please talked about it and thought it was really interesting. Plus, I love it when two interests come together – it’s pretty hard to get book-themed teas, but we can definitely get tea-themed books!
As you can see, I’ve found some amazing books through the blogging community. I’m definitely looking forward to finding more books from other book blogs in the future too!
I know it’s really silly but I absolutely love that The Orangutan Librarian rates with bananas instead of stars. Just a very fun concept inspired by one of the greatest writers ever, Terry Pratchett.
Yes! I love how the blog itself is a tribute to Discworld!
Cool idea. I might do something similar soon. And you’re right, it’s not such a big deal whether or not a book gets 5 stars. I’ve actually ended up purchasing/reading books because the review I saw of it gave it a low rating or said it was lacking in some way and for some reason that made me curious enough to get it.
Yup! What may be someone’s least fav trope could be someone else’s fav!
I found a copy of HOUSE OF SALT AND SORROWS at my library’s book sale a few months ago. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hope you enjoyed House of Salt and Sorrows as well!!
Some amazing sounding reads on this list!
Yes! I am so glad people were talking about these books!!
