Everything to do with books! Mostly book reviews, but occasionally, I have the non-review bookish post too.
I have been in a bit of a reading slump, taking well over a week to finish a book. Luckily, Krysta has been reviewing Miss Marple mysteries over at PagesUnbound and her reviews made me realise that it was time for some Christie. So when I had the opportunity, I popped into my local library… Read More Book Review: They Do It With Mirrors by Agatha Christie
I think I found the answer to making sure you always enjoy ARCs: only choose those by authors you already like /jk (maybe?) Anyway, since I’ve read Perfect Remains by Helen Fields and enjoyed it (and should really start book 2 soon) and since I’m also a sucker for things that have myths and legends… Read More Book Review: The Last Girl to Die by Helen Fields
Ok, this is definitely a book that I selected based on the cover. I mean, it looks gorgeous! And to make things better, it has a lot of beautiful illustrations and gorgeous poems and texts as well. As the title indicates, Pleasures of Nature collects various poems and short texts about nature into one place.… Read More Book Review: Pleasures of Nature – A Literary Anthology selected by Christina Hardyment
I’m sorry but I NEED to talk about the ending of this book, so please do not read this review if you intend to read this book and don’t want it spoiled!! It’s been years since I read a Jodi Picoult book (might be a decade, actually) and my main impression of her is that… Read More Book Review: Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult [Major Spoilers]
I have procrastinated on this review because I wanted to write something longer and more in-depth, but it’s time to accept that that review is not going to happen, because there’s not that much I have to say about the book. I’ve heard about the concept of flow so much that I wanted to read… Read More Book Review: Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
I have no idea why I bought this book. It’s probably a combination of having heard about Trollope and liking the cover. Probably. Anyway, The Warden is the first book of Trollope’s that I’ve read. It’s about two good men – The Warden, who believes that he has done what is right to the men… Read More Book Review: The Warden by Anthony Trollope
People have been telling me to read this book since 2021. But because I’ve got a long TBR list, and because this book doesn’t sync to my kobo, I’ve procrastinated on reading it. However, after my IRL bookclub/food discussion club chose this as our next book to read, I decided it was time to pick… Read More Book Review: 17A Keong Saik Road by Charmaine Leung
I have read books that talked about Arthur Conan’s Doyle non-author life, like The Man Who Would Be Sherlock, but I never realised how deeply important spiritualism was to him until I read The Witch of Lime Street. And he’s just one of the three main “characters”. The Witch of Lime Street is a detailed… Read More Book Review: The Witch of Lime Street by David Jaher
I’m making good progress on the Owen Archer series! I’m really enjoying it, and I don’t really feel the urge to binge it so I can actually pace it out. I mean, I enjoy most of the books I read but it’s a treat to know you have a book you’re certain to enjoy coming… Read More Book Review: The King’s Bishop by Candace Robb
This is, perhaps unsurprisingly, another book I found on Instagram! The lovely AqilahReads talked about this book and it intrigued me so I added it to the TBR list! If you are familiar with the criticisms of social media, not much of this book will be new to you. However, The Insta Food Diet’s food-specific… Read More Book Review: The Insta Food Diet by Pixie Turner
