Everything to do with books! Mostly book reviews, but occasionally, I have the non-review bookish post too.
Since our previous book club pick was very dark, we decided to go the opposite way for next book and opted for Annabelle Thong, a Singlit Chic-lit. Personally, I was very excited about this book because I prefer genre fiction to literary fiction, and I want to read more Singlit (and books from SEA authors)… Read More SEA Reading Challenge: Annabelle Thong by Imran Hashim
We’re almost at the end of my self-declared month of rereading! And there are still so many books that I want to read. But, I went to the library last week and got four books, so I’ve gotta start on the new books soon. Anyway, here’s what I’ve read over the last few days: I… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 29
Hi friends! It’s the end of the week! I’ve got two weekends this coming weekend, so the next time you’ll hear from me will be Sunday night (or Monday night, depending on how intense translating is!). So between last night and today, I have: Finished The Meaning of Night: The fourth section more or less… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 26
Hi friends! I hope you’ve gotten over your midweek slump. Here’s what I’ve been reading: The Meaning of Night: I’ve finished another three parts and I think I’ll be reading the sequel right after this. It’s been interesting how my opinion of Edward has changed from part 1. Part 1 started with him making a… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 25
I have reached a new level in my tea journey – people are asking me about tea books! Honestly, I’m really happy about this development because I love tea and reading so this is both my interests combined. And when my friend asked me if I had read The True History of Tea and what… Read More Book Review: The True History of Tea by Victor H Mair and Erling Hoh
The annoying thing about one book having two different titles is that you’ll end up misunderstanding how many library copies there are. I searched for this book under “Darling Rose Gold” and thought that there weren’t many copies available, but then I searched by author name and found it in the library I was visiting!… Read More Book Review: The Recovery of Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel
Hi friends! Sad news – I am officially supposed to be drinking less tea. I don’t know how it’s going to look like (I’m apparently allowed to have up to have 1 cup of coffee’s worth of a tea a day) but I’m hoping I can get back to my regular caffeine consumption levels soon.… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 23
Hi friends! The weekend is over and I’m somewhat relieved but also somewhat nervous about the week ahead. I’m almost done packing the tea bags to send to the participants (if you are in Singapore, it’s not too late to sign up) and I manged to get a little reading. So over the past two… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 22
Younger-me loved this book and current-me can totally see why – this is a poignantly written story about growing up, wrapped up in the fantasy and dark reality of fairytales (although a part of me wonders how I even found this book at such a young age!). The Book of Lost Things starts with David… Read More Rereading: The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly
Hi friends! I am done with today’s seminar and managed to get a decent bit of reading in! So let’s dive into it. First, I finished another chapter of The Tale of Genji, and what a doozy it was. This is the chapter entitled Aoi and it contains: the climax of Genji’s affair with the… Read More March Rereading Madness: Day 20
