Everything to do with books! Mostly book reviews, but occasionally, I have the non-review bookish post too.
“My name’s Kazumi Ishioka. I’m a huge fan of mysteries; in fact, they’re almost an addiction.” I’ve had this book on the Overdrive wishlist for the longest time ever, but only got around to it now. And I regret my wait so much because this is an amazing (if slightly disturbing) mystery. I actually had… Read More Book Review: The Tokyo Zodiac Murders by Shimada Soji
I can’t remember where I heard of this book but I’ve had my eye on it for some time because it’s all about food from my childhood! I was basically that kid who read under the table and apart from Singaporean stories like Bookworm Club and Mr Midnight, I also read a lot of books… Read More Stay At Home Bakes #3: Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer by Jane Brocket
It’s the mid-19th century and London is a city. Almost miraculously, a group of people have organised themselves into a class of scavengers, taking on the responsibility of most modern sanitation departments and thus helping two million people get rid of their waste. However, this effort does have some cracks and not all waste is… Read More Book Review: The Ghost Map by Steven Johnson
There was an abundance of Agatha Christie books at the library and since the choice was overwhelming, I decided to get a collection of short stories (rather than a collection of novels). Plus, I love tea so the word “tea set” appealed immensely to me. The Harlequin Tea Set is a collection of nine short… Read More Book Review: The Harlequin Tea Set by Agatha Christie
At long last, I’ve managed to find and read a copy of Blood Heir! I’ve been wanting to read this ever since I heard about the kerfuffle on Book Twitter but was also kind of daunted because what if it doesn’t live up to expectations? But overall, this was an intense debut that left me… Read More Book Review: Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao
Woohoo my second ever book tag! I was a bit hesitant to start this because I’m still stuck on the one to recommend a blog for every letter of my blog name (sorry, Brittany) but I decided to bite the bullet. To be honest, I can’t find a book for every prompt, so I’m just… Read More The Women’s History Book Tag
This is actually my cousin’s book but I borrowed it during his housewarming party last month. Yes, I am the person who takes things away during a housewarming (but with every intention of bringing it back!). Jerusalem is a sweeping biography of the city, starting from the reign of King David and ending in the… Read More Book Review: Jerusalem, The Biography by Simon Sebag Montefiore

It has taken me half a year but I am finally over my feelings towards Nemesis (a Miss Marple mystery). It helped that I read C.S. Lewis on why he reads – experience different views of life, not just views that I agree with. I’m glad that I gave Miss Marple another chance because apart… Read More Not That Cosy: A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie
One nice thing about bookstagram is that I get to know the Singapore bookish community! The Super Secret Book was one of the first few accounts that I found and I’ve been admiring the cute art that they post ever since. When I heard that The Super Secret book was out in ebook, I had… Read More Book Review: The Super Secret Book by Tian En
