Woohoo my second ever book tag! I was a bit hesitant to start this because I’m still stuck on the one to recommend a blog for every letter of my blog name (sorry, Brittany) but I decided to bite the bullet. To be honest, I can’t find a book for every prompt, so I’m just going to answer the ones I can! (Maybe I should do that for the other tag as well). I don’t really keep track of the gender of the authors I read so I just went through my Goodreads pages.
Thanks Belle for tagging me in this!
The Rules
- Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post.

The Books
Rosa Parks – A Book about a female character who doesn’t do as she’s told.
To be honest, I was very torn between three books so I shall just list all of them to make up for those I didn’t!
- My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows – My Lady Jane is an immensely entertaining take on Lady Jane Grey. In this version, Jane loves books and she has quite a strong will, making her the perfect match for her fiance, Gifford.
- Shadow on the Crown by Patricia Bracewell – Yet another novel based on a real person, this one tells the story of Emma of Normandy. She’s all alone in a hostile land but does she just give up and do as people expect? No, she’s going to be a queen as best as she can.
- The Service of the Dead by Candace Robb – This is the first book of the Kate Clifford series and I really recommend all the books. Despite the fact that Kate is a widow living in medieval York, she manages to make her way as a businesswoman (she rents out rooms to people who need time to do discreet things) and if something is affecting her and her loved ones, she will do anything to get to the bottom of it.
Ada Lovelace – A Book with an Intelligent Female Character
Death in Kew Gardens by Jennifer Ashley – I’m going to recommend another series: The Kat Holloway mysteries! Absolutely love this because Kate is a single mother making her way as a cook and she’s smart enough to be a partner to the mysterious (and also very smart) Daniel McAdam.
Queen Elizabeth – A Book about a Woman in a Position of Power
Midnight Never Come by Marie Brennan – It will probably come as no surprise to you that Queen Elizabeth I is a character in this book. There are two parallel courts in this AU version of England; the one belonging to Queen Elizabeth I and the one belonging to Invidiana, queen of the Faeries. The two courts are separately but dependent on each other. Lots of scheming and smart women in this fantastic adventure.
Virginia Woolf – A Book with Beautiful Writing
Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard – It took me ages to find a copy of this but wow, the writing in this is amazing! This was probably the easiest prompt for me because I immediately thought of Pilgrim at Tinker Creek when I read the prompt.
Female Warrior
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden – Okay, I know that this is the second book in the Winternight trilogy and you should read The Bear and the Nightingale first, but this is the book where Vasya disguises herself as a boy and joins in the fighting. She was amazing here (and in the other books)
Rose Franklin – An Underappreciated Book
Unequal Affection by Lara Ormiston – I haven’t really seen this around (although I did find it from a book blog) and as far as I know it hasn’t won any awards, but this is the best Pride and Prejudice retelling that I’ve ever seen! It asks the question: what if Elizabeth accepted Darcy’s first proposal? and then goes on to write an amazing story about how they could still fall in love while staying true to the characters. Absolutely love this one.
Now You!
I don’t really know who to tag, but if you’re interested in doing this, head over to the original post for all the other prompts!

Don’t be sorry for not doing the other tag!! I have had so many tags that I never did 🤣🤣 And this one is way cooler and more meaningful anyway! Great answers!
Sorry! Just realise my reply didn’t send 🙈 Thanks for understanding, but I still want to do that tag one day! Just a matter of following more blogs haha
Thanks so much for doing this tag!! 😀 I loved reading all your answers! Jane Grey of My Lady Jane is the perfect answer for the first question 🙂 And wow, I’ve never heard of Unequal Affection before this but I definitely need to check it out, as a Jane Austen fan!!
Unequal Affection is such a good read! I’d highly recommend it, especially for Janeites!
I loved reading your answers, Eustacia 😄! You always read and recommend really different books from other bloggers I follow, so it’s fun getting all the recs haha. AUs fascinate me, so I’m interested in picking up Midnight Never Come 🙂.
Thank you! Midnight Never Come is great, I highly recommend it!
What a great post and list of books! I’m trying to think of what I might pick for each one and it’s hard! LOL
Haha yes! I had to look through my Goodreads list for some of these 😂
