I’m a little late with this update because yesterday involved a lot of moving between countries (which sounds impressive until you realise it just involves getting stuck in the causeway jam between Singapore and Malaysia). I did get about 450 words in so I decided not to push it at night – I want to enjoy writing after NaNoWriMo, not be glad that the whole thing is over!
So far, I think I’m still relatively on track. This past week, I’ve been focusing on stories within existing worlds that I have written – not the Coming from Darkness series (yet), but one of the Wattpad stories that I’m rather fond of, even if it isn’t the best story (I tell myself that being a Wattpad featured story means it’s not completely terrible). It’s fun writing in the same world, but it’s also difficult because I’ve forgotten a lot of the details; I spent a lot of time this week wishing that I’ve created a story bible.
One more thing for my post-NaNoWriMo writing/publishing list, along with things like “update back matter” and “try Ingram Spark while there’s still a promo code.”
This week, I plan to continue writing in that existing world, and hopefully a few essay-type pieces. I’ve always wanted to do more discussion posts but I never seem to be able to develop a topic so this rebel NaNoWriMo is the perfect excuse for me to practice that.
In other news, I’ve also managed to start organising a second writein, which will take place on the last day of NaNoWriMo, so that we can end things with a bang. I haven’t been able to blog as frequently as before, but I am slowly gaining confidence that as long as I figure out the optimal pace for everything, I can work and write and continue on all my previous hobbies without burning out. One reason I let writing fall by the wayside was that I convinced myself that I didn’t have the capacity to write and blog and do general life-things that I wanted to do. This is a month to challenge that belief.
I still don’t know how you manage to do it all…and work a regular job, besides! But, good for you as long as you don’t burn yourself out!
Thank you! Yes, I’m very mindful about whether I’m burning out nowadays :p It helps a lot that my weekdays are very quiet so I try to do more writing and reading then (:
Absolutely, gotta avoid burnout. But sounds like you’re doing good there.
Thanks! Fingers crossed it keeps this way (:
You got this.
Yay! Write-ins! So much fun.
Yes! And so productive once everyone stops talking and starts writing (:
Super productive. Keeps ya accountable.
