After hearing so many good things about AB Endacott from Abi of Pellinor, I was beyond thrilled to be able to read Deliverance of the Blessed! The ebooks are, unfortunately, only available on Amazon for now, but Endacott very generously sent me an ebook to read (I was asking if she was planning to make any of her books wide).
Deliverance of the Blessed is the story of how four friends try to literally bring back a member of their group who has passed away. For Kaylene, the mission is personal – Luka was not only her friend but her lover. Constrained by the rules of the Sanctuary, which govern the use of their Blessings/prevent their Blessings from exposure to the wider world, Kaylene and her friends have to use all their cunning if they are going to bring Luka back from the dead.
I completely see why Abi loves this series! The characters here were amazing – Kaylene is a strong-willed and smart woman and I was rooting for her from the start. Her three friends, who function more as major side characters than co-protagonists, were also well written and I really enjoyed their friendship as it slowly changed throughout the book. They started out with a hole in their hearts, but I think the gap was starting to be filled without them noticing.
The setting of this world was very interesting as well. Kaylene lives in a world where people with Blessings are kept away from the wider society. I was very intrigued by one of their missions which brought them in contact with someone who had a Blessing and a fairly high position, and I’d hope that the world is expanded upon if Endacott decides to continue in this series.
Overall, this is a beautifully written fantasy about how people react to loss, and how you grow even when you try to bring the past back. I really, really hope that the rest of Endacott’s books are available wide sometime in the future.

I’m so glad that you read this AND that you enjoyed it!!!! I’m really looking forward to when Alice writes more books in the First Country cause most of them have been in the Second and Third so far, but she’s said that she is writing them so it’s just a matter of time! I know you don’t exactly have easy access to the books but if you’re able to read any of the others that are already out they’re in different countries on the Godkissed continent and really add a lot to the overall worldbuilding!
Ahhh I’m so excited!! I love it when all the stories are in the same world – very Discworld-esque!
It is! And it really adds so much depth to each story because they’re all interlinked so well!
