Teas Ahoy!

This is going to be a short post so let me start with a personal update: I came back from a school trip to San Francisco last Saturday and my boyfriend is coming to visit tomorrow so it’ll be another week of no/sporadic blog updates. But when I do have the time to blog more regularly, I’m planning to talk about what’s been going on with the MBA so you can expect some posts on that alongside the regular book + tea posts.

Now for the tea! I’ll be continuing the Tea 101 series that looks into various Japanese cultivars as I drink my way through them, but I also got my hands on a LOT of samples.

Renegade Taster Set

I enjoyed the renegade teas that I purchased previously, so I decided to buy their taster set and try even more of their teas! The teas in this box are:

  • Sunset Garden (Green tea)
  • Green Velvet (Green tea)
  • Tulip Garden (Green tea)
  • Renegade Life (Green tea, and one I really like)
  • Alphabet (Green tea)
  • Red Sunrise (Oolong)
  • Prodigy Mesame (Oolong, another great one)
  • Miss Ohh Long (Oolong)
  • Lazy Morning (Oolong)
  • Berry Breeze (Black tea)
  • Evening Lilac (Black tea, heard a lot of good things about this one!)
  • Smooth Jazz (Black tea, a light black tea)
  • Renegade Black (Black tea)
  • Burnished Beauty (Black tea)
  • Georgian Breakfast (Black tea)

I’ve tried three of these teas so that’s 12 new teas for me to explore!

Red Blossom Tea Samples

When I was in San Francisco, I visited Red Blossom Tea and walked away $30 poorer and with five samples of tea. I wasn’t expecting to get anything, but they have some teas that I haven’t really seen around and couldn’t resist:

  • Lincang Shou Puer 2021
  • Jin Xuan (Milk Oolong)
  • Jin Xuan (Winter Sprout)
  • Aged Tung Ting 1980
  • Aged Tieguanyin 1986

I know that Jin Xuan isn’t hard to find, but I’ve not really seen a winter Jin Xuan so I wanted to compare the two types of harvest! I haven’t really seen aged oolongs either so I’m pretty excited for the teas here!
