2022 Rereading Week: Day 3

Hello friends! This is being posts earlier than usual because I have a night class and won’t be reading past dinner.

So as expected, I did not manage to finish An English Murder today. But since it’s fairly slim, I am about halfway through it, which is good news! I think I can finish this by tomorrow.

Right now, the murder has occurred and everyone is snowed in, which should be exciting. The most obnoxious character is the one who has gotten murdered, so I’m not too sure who the murderer is. For the matter, I’m not sure who the detective is – perhaps it’s Dr Bottwink, the Czech history professor. He’s the one that took charge after the death occurred, but there’s also a policeman who’s a minor character and could possibly be representing the Law as well. I wonder if I assumed Dr Bottwink is the detective because of the Poirot; could Hare be inspired by Christie?

As for the tone of the text, I’m enjoying the subtle humour. It’s not laugh-out-loud funny like Pratchett’s Discworld books are, but it does bring a smile to my face.

Looking forward to continuing this! Other than that, it’s a quiet day today; just work and books (and class) for me.
