Oh wow have I procrastinated on these! I finished drinking these in November 2022 and the post is coming out… now in 2023. But I am somewhat of a completionist and since I had a Part 1 of quick tea reviews for Zealong, I need to have a part 2. So without further ado, here are my thoughts:
Spoken thoughts
Written Thoughts
Breakfast Tea: When I drank this straight because it smelled really rich and I even caught a whiff of a honey note. I didn’t think this was too strong (milk isn’t a must), and I did get a bit of a honey aftertaste after a while. Since this is a breakfast tea, I also drank it with milk but that was a mistake – the only thing I got while drinking was a smoky note.
Lady Gatsby: I couldn’t really taste the tea here, but I did taste the rose and cinnamon. I really like the flavour combination, but it would be nice if I could also taste some notes from the green tea as well!
Fire and Ice: I didn’t really get any of the stated notes while drinking, apart from a minty note which appeared after the first few sips. The ginger, manuka, and black tea all blended together to form one note, which made the tea easy to drink but not particularly noteworthy.
Zealong’s Own Grey: The rose petals had the biggest presence in this tea, I could smell them before I even drank the tea. I also managed to taste the lavender as well. The citrus notes require a much longer steep before it comes out but it counters the rose quite effectively. As with Lady Gatsy, I couldn’t really taste the tea (in this case black tea) here.
Zealong’s Own Chai: The dominant note in this blend is from the cinnamon and other than that, it’s a pretty light tea. Although most chai I drink contain milk, I don’t think you can add milk to this because the milk just mutes the taste, leaving behind just an aftertaste of spice. It’s not really my pick for chai, I think it’s a bit too light, or maybe I’m making this wrong?
Zealong’s Own Chamomile: I held back on drinking this at night because it’s supposed to be a blend of chamomile and black tea, but it tastes like a tisane. I think there is some lavender in here, which is a nice touch. For this blend, I would have preferred it to be a tisane, I can see it as a nice bedtime tea.
Overall, this was a fun box to try! I don’t know if I’ll get any because the teas are pretty pricey but if I did, I think I’d want to get one of the straight teas (probably the black).
