I found this book at a Church yard sale and of course, I had to buy it. It’s only 1 euro and you can never know too much about Jane Austen! This biography of Jane Austen is a rather slim volume that tells her story by focusing on her relationships and how that might have… Read More Book Review: Jane Austen by Carol Shields
Updated 21/7/2024 So you’ve read all of Jane Austen’s novels… now what? Among the Janeites reminded me of just how active the Jane Austen fandom is, so I thought it would be fun to put together an Austen-focused book recommendation post! I’ll be linking to my full reviews of the books and otherwise stated, these… Read More Get Your Austen Fix: Books Related to Jane Austen
Despite the fact that I bought the book (the word “Jane Austen” was in the title, it’s inevitable), I approached it with some trepidation. I love Austen but I’m not sure how she fits into an advice column – and what if the author attempts to mimic Austen’s style? Thankfully, the book doesn’t go so… Read More Book Review: Jane Austen’s Guide to Modern Life Dilemmas by Rebecca Smith
I bought this book purely because of the price and because it said “Jane Austen” somewhere on the title (when faced with cheap books, I am not the most discerning of buyers). Thankfully, I ended up enjoying this, and I think this will be a book that I return to in the future. The Genius… Read More Book Review: The Genius of Jane Austen by Paula Byrne
I use Goodreads mainly to keep track of my reviews and it has come in handy again – when I looked up Persuasion, it reminded me that I last read it around the end of 2017, before a trip to England, making this reread a fairly recent one. Although there is one difference – in… Read More Rereading: Persuasion by Jane Austen

With the extra time, I managed to finish Emma and Pride and Prejudice, which makes the end of the Jane Austen rereads for now – I wonder what I should read next… Interestingly, I’m… Read More Daily Reading: 9th May//Emma + Pride and Prejudice
One silver lining about the circuit breaker is that I’m finally cooking from my cookbooks! Among others, I got a copy of Dining with Mr Darcy during my visit to the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. I admired the book greatly when I bought it, but after that I put it aside because I hardly… Read More Stay Home Bakes #4: Dining with Mr Darcy by Pen Vogler
Emma is a lot longer than I remembered so I’m only halfway through it today! I must say, knowing what is going to happen is making more more anxious than not knowing what to happen – [SPOILERS AHEAD] I know, for example, that Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax are secretly engaged, so every time Emma… Read More Daily Reading: 8th May//Emma Part 1
The only book I have to talk about today is Sense and Sensibility, so I suppose this will be a little more like a proper review! Among Austen’s novels, Sense and Sensibility has probably made the smallest impression on me. I love Pride and Prejudice, I actually really enjoy Mansfield Park and Fanny, I think… Read More Daily Reading: 7th May//Sense and Sensibility
I am slowly getting back into the rhythm of working (albeit with a reduced workload) and reading at the same time! I managed to finish Persuasion this morning and even had the time to ask Instagram which book I should read next. Unfortunately, it was a tie when I wanted to start something new so… Read More Daily Reading: 6th May//Persuasion Part 2 + Sense and Sensibility Part 1
