Tea’s the Season: Week 4

We’re in Christmas week!!! Honestly, I can’t believe it – it feels way too fast. Where did my December go? I’m really going to have to rush if I want to make one more pre-Christmas panettone (and try to get the texture right).

The 1872 Clipper Tea Co.’s Advent Calendar

Since I’m done with the matchas from Bird & Blend Tea Co., I’ve been drinking the 1872 Clipper Tea Co teas the whole week. I’ve had:

English Breakfast: Honestly, most English breakfast teas taste the same to me. The only two that have made an impression are the Clipper Everyday Tea (the British Clipper) and Benson’s English breakfast. This was good with homemade cookies (peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are amazing, just saying).

Peppermint Tea: I like all peppermint teas

Green Tea: I think I’ve said it before, but I’m generally not a fan of this Clipper’s green tea – it’s a bit too rough for me.

Blissful Berries: This is a fruit tisane and very interesting! I actually really liked this one but it wasn’t the best tea for breakfast because it was really sweet and doesn’t have that jolt of caffeine.

Garden Tea: I like this one! It’s a rose black tea and it’s got really floral notes.

Yunnan Silver Tips: I’ve had this a few times and it’s a nice white tea, but one thing about teabags is the amount of tea leaves. Personally, I’d prefer to gongfu brew this tea.

Early Verdict on the 1872 Clipper Tea Calendar

If you noticed, I’ve only got six teas up there because… to be honest this calendar isn’t that exciting to me. All the teas are existing blends, which means that I’ve tried most of them already. If you haven’t tried any of the teas from The 1872 Clipper Tea Co., then this is probably a fun calendar, but if you’re already familiar with their range of tea, you may want to skip this one.

Personally, I don’t think I’ll be keeping very detailed notes on the remaining teas – I may post in IG stories but that’s about it!

2020 Sipdown Update

I managed to finish two teas this week!

One tea is the Twinings Golden Rose Hearts – Despite my slight disagreement with part of the tea description, I’ve actually come to really enjoy this tea! It’s a beautiful tea, both in terms of looks and taste. It’s basically a good everyday tea and I’m definitely going to miss this.

The other tea I finished was one that I strategically planned to finish. Honestly, I really don’t like to finish teas that I enjoy because it means that I won’t get to have them for a while. So in this case, I asked myself “what tea do I have less off that I don’t mind running out of” and came up with… the Korean Dong Cheon Daejak Semi-wild Green tea. While this is an interesting tea, I personally prefer sencha so I had a couple of afternoons with this tea and finished it.

I will continue with this sipdown and make one last post before the year ends!

  1. Funnily enough I started a bit of a sipdown campaign a couple of weeks ago – so far I’ve polished off 8 sets of leaves. The general idea is to continue well into the new year, to make room for some new stuff…

    1. I suppose I should be sipping down teas the whole year round, but somehow the tea stash just keeps increasing…

I think 8 sets of leaves is fantastic! I’m hoping to finish another 2 by the end of the month 😀

What do you think?
