Going for a Chill Wyrd and Wonder 2021

ZeeZee posted about Wyrd and Wonder and it sounded pretty fun so I decided I’ll be dipping my toes into this challenge! It’s definitely going to be a very chill participation (I’m currently looking at doing one blogpost and one instagram post) but I’m still excited for it.

But before we begin, don’t forget to check out the:

So anyway, I missed yesterday’s prompt, which was “We’re Going on an Adventure”. So here are two books that I borrowed and am planning to read for the challenge:

So these two books have been on my TBR list for a while. There is:

  1. The Beast Player, which is a translated Japanese fantasy. I can’t quite remember where I first heard about this book, but you know I love Japan so I am excited!
  2. Ghostly Bones, the third book in the Jackaby series. This is a fantasy mystery, or mystery with heavy fantasy elements, and if the first two books are anything to go by, it will be a fun read. I keep forgetting to borrow the book from the library so, I finally did it!

If you have any more fantasy recommendations, let me know!

  1. I enjoy fantasy quite a bit. I haven’t read either of these on your list. I recommend The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna if you get the chance. It seems like most of my fantasy reading lately has been urban fantasy.

  2. Hallo, Hallo Eustacia,

Welcome to Wyrd And Wonder!! How wicked awesome is it that you’re joining us for our fourth year!? I’m so happy you spied this off Zezee’s blog and have decided to join us, too! You don’t have to worry – Wyrd And Wonder was purposely created to be chill and relaxed – there are NO REQUIREMENTS in regards to books read, films watched, posts written or bookstagram shares — we wanted everyone to find their own road map into sharing the fantastical and however which way you choose to do that this May, we’ll be there to cheer you on and celebrate with you!!

Towards that end, I never heard of these authors. If you post about them further, I look forward to reading your thoughts as I like to read book bloggers who are reading stories/authors I haven’t yet read myself or even stories that might not be my cuppa but the blogger has given me such a compelling reason why I should reconsider!

You’ll find a month of posts coming to my blog — including the 2x reviews and Year 4 Intro I shared this weekend.

May you have a fantastical adventure with us!!

    1. Hi Jorie!! Thank you for the warm welcome to Wyrd and Wonder – I love fantasy so I’m super excited to participate and just have fun with everyone (:

I’ll definitely try to read and review these books to make it a bit more fantastical on the blog!

      Looking forward to your blogposts!

  3. JACKABYYYYYY!!! 😁

The Beast Player has a gorgeous cover!

For the May 14 prompt – Fantasy voices from around the world – I’d suggest Son of a Trickster. It’s a really unique story!

    1. I’ve not heard of that! Gotta put it on my TBR list (either for this Wyrd and Wonder or for later!)

What do you think?
